In the beginning of the year when we set down to talk about her business I asked, what is your biggest fear right now? The answer was, I am afraid I am NOT going to reach my business goals again this year. I set goals year after year for my business but I don’t reach them. Before I know it November is here and I am yet to have reached my goals. It’s frustrating!
Why do you think that is? I asked, she proceeded to tell me she couldn’t get organized, had a hard time motivating herself, found herself procrastinating, had weak boundaries with current clients (which made her want to avoid getting new ones.) I am afraid I’ll have to do something I don’t want to do.
Does it sound familiar to you? It really hit home for me because that’s exactly the place where I was in my business 10 years ago. I was trying to do everything on my own. I had a need to be “the boss” a resistant attitude of “don’t tell me what to do.” I used to think all the strategies would work for other businesses but not for mine.
Eventually, it became so painful to look at my nearly empty bank account. Yucks! It was time to finally take responsibility for my results and my business. I learned that great leaders are also great followers at first. They are open to receiving guidance, to be held accountable and to be supported by those who can bring skills they don’t have.
That’s when I decided to fill up my business tank with G.A.S. – “Guidance” from someone I trust, “Accountability” from someone who has been there, done that, and “Supports” from someone who has the skills I lack to grow my business. With G.A.S., my coach was able to get-to-know me at a deeper level, spot what get me off track and help me move forward faster.
I told my coach and my mastermind colleagues “sooner or later I’ll find a way to leave you guys because my comfort zone is to do everything on my own.” So please don’t let me leave. You have my permission to tight me up to the conference table if needed. Fortunately, they didn’t have to do that.
Bottom line I was tired of the “hit or miss” pattern I had created, and feeling insecure because I never knew when the next client would come. It was hard to sleep at nite, and time was slipping through my fingers.
Here is how you reach your business goals:
1. Set a goal that you know is doable
2. Break it down into manageable steps
3. Reverse engineer the execution of your goal
4. Get Guidance, Accountability, and Support to make sure
you on track and stay on track
What happened as a result of me giving up on hopping around and putting G.A.S. in my business? I actually started to reach my sales and financial goals. I felt secure, useful and delighted to be able to take care of my family.
My clients say that the major benefit of working me is that they receive step-by-step marketing & mindset strategies, so they know exactly what to do to attract more ideal clients, make more money, and make an impact. As a result, the mental torture of wondering why something isn’t working or the when the next client is coming is totally gone.
What would you be able to do (that you can’t right now) once you achieve your business goals?
Talk soon,
Simone
P.S. Put G.A.S in your business so you can ensure you are reaching your business goals (just like entrepreneurs in our community). And coming November you are celebrating your accomplishments instead of getting flustered, overwhelmed and lost.
